Transition

Everyone always wants to know about the big transition that every high school student has to go through which is from high school to college. When I was in high school I was like everyone else I always was like college is going to be so hard I'm going to be stressed out all the time and never have time to have a social life. I was excited after I graduated high school that I finally get to go to college and have fun with new friends, going out all the time, having more freedom, and getting to sleep in until I had my classes for that day, but I was totally wrong! When that last week of summer came around for me to pack up all my stuff from my house to take to college I was getting nervous and shocked that it's finally here I'm actually going to college. When I got to the campus here at TLU it was bigger at first when we first arrived, but as I started to get use to the campus it wasn't so big anymore. It was very nerve racking and overwhelming at first, that I didn't know where to start to begin to unload my stuff. When I finally got settled into my room, that we already started freshman orientation. It was a lot of lectures and talking and information to process, but I got it all within three days. When classes started I was definitely wrong about college. My impression of it was the complete opposite. Classes were a lot longer than I thought and I didn't have much time to go out, because there was always a lot of homework. I do get to go out when I want and have fun, but I don't get to sleep as long as I thought I could because I have 6:15am morning work outs everyday. The only thing that I was right about was the free time, but I must say that you need to use your free time wisely. The transition is quite overwhelming, but don't stress out it just takes time to get use too. The biggest thing is to remember to study and don't procrastinate and make sure your do all your papers and if you need help go to tutoring sessions or SI sessions.
